To all members of our great PJFC family,

2016 was a big year and we look forward to 2017 being even bigger both on and off the field!

Over the past month the committee has been busy ensuring all girls, boys, siblings and parents arrive at Toorak Park next year experiencing a refreshed, re energised, and awesome atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Here’s just an insight of what we’ve been up to and planning over the past 6 weeks:

For the first time in our history, and due to demand we have opened registrations prior to Christmas.   So please jump online and re register, or bring along a friend or friends to play at the “Two Blues” in 2017.  Please click here for online registration.

If you have a look at the website, you will notice we have enlisted many hands to assist us in 2017.

As also mentioned in my earlier note, we are still looking for any parent volunteers. We would love to hear from you if you can assist in any of the following areas:

  • Uniform shop (please contact Siobhan Miller)
  • Social committees (please contact Vicky Tabain)
  • Team manager roles (please contact Sharon Pickering)
  • A first aid coordinator (please contact Dave Landrigan)
  • Football (Simon Theodore)

If you have any questions of wish to discuss please contact me – many hands make light work!!

With regards to our football department, we have already appointed 5 coaches (see below) and we are currently in discussions to appoint the remainder – we will have a full complement of Coaches announced by mid-January.

Our Football Operations Department, led by Simon Theodore, Sam McKay and Wayne Oswald have already sourced venues for our 2017 pre season program which is an amazing effort.

We are in discussions with Collingwood Football Club to again hold all our pre season games at the Holden Centre.

It is with pleasure I confirm the following coaching appointments for 2017:

  • U13 boys – Cam Field and John Nankervis
  • U14 boys – Matt Thomas
  • U15 boys – Wayne Oswald
  • U14 girls –  David Landrigan
  • U18 girls –  Wayne Oswald

Coaching appointments are taking place but there is always room for the important roles of Assistant Coaches, so if you are interested, please contact Simon Theodore or Wayne Oswald.

The club is also excited to announce that for the first time in our history,  some of our teams (girls and boys), will be participating in an Anzac Day game (round robin) hosted by East Malvern Knights…full details to come in 2017.

Our newest committee member Siobhan Miller is currently working on our website,  updating and establishing an easy map to guide you around the club…be it Registering for 2017, ordering new apparel or just looking to find out which of our sponsor products you want to enjoy!

One of our major community programs is to assist the Horace Petty public housing estate.  Each year we help the Salvation Army organise presents for over 300 children.  Unfortunately this year the Salvation Army withdrew its funding, leaving a potentially disastrous Christmas for these kids.

But with the amazing efforts of committee members Elle Payne and Dror Erez, our club and members were able to raise and donate in excess of 400 presents which we hope will make their Christmas Day a little brighter.

One of the most important aspects of our junior football club are our Sponsors who give their time and financial support throughout the year.  We are fortunate to have some wonderful Sponsors at PJFC and we are in discussions with all of our current sponsors and hope to retain them in 2017.

We are thrilled that over the past month our committee have also been contacted by numerous companies wishing to pledge their allegiance to the Prahran Junior Football Club.  This is a great sign for our club and if anyone in our community wishes to join as a club or team sponsor,  please contact Dror Erez.

So when Round One 2017 arrives I can promise you that you will be impressed by the hard work of our committee to make this club enjoyable, inspiring and most importantly filled with football.

Finally on behalf of the Prahran Junior Football Club committee, I wish you all a safe holiday season and look forward to seeing new and old faces in 2017.

Regards,

David Landrigan
