Hello to all PJFC families,
PFC Gala Luncheon:
For the first time ever, the Senior and Junior clubs are arranging a joint football community luncheon. It is to be held on Friday 21st August at Crown Palladium and will be an afternoon to remember. It is to be hosted by former Prahran player & coach (and of course, former Richmond and Collingwood player and current commentator) Brian Taylor and there is a great panel lined up including Danny Frawley, Wayne Carey and Neale Daniher.
Our senior club plays as Prahran Assumption Football Club and Daniher, a former Assumption College lad who suffers Motor Neurone Disease, is the patron of Cure the MND Foundation and, alongside fundraising efforts for PFC will be a charity element in favour of Cure the MND foundation.
A highlight of the luncheon will be the auction of a brand new blue Volvo S60 worth $70,000 arranged by PJFC identity and sponsor Rob Barber of Volvo Cars Brighton (formerly Altitude Volvo).
I strongly encourage you to join us for wonderful afternoon. Tickets are on sale now (see the attached flyer) – just click the trybooking link to book.
Finals time is coming up:
I don’t often refer to results in this newsletter – it is quite deliberate. Our children are learning to play this wonderful sport and often the pressure brought to bear by focussing on outcomes is not healthy. But at this time of year, I think it would be remiss not to acknowledge some of our teams whose success will hopefully endure well into their respective finals campaigns.
At this stage, with only 3 rounds left to play, we have 7 of our 10 teams from u11 up (those that play in “ladder” competitions) poised nicely to participate in finals action. U11 Blacks and both u12 teams are currently sitting on top of their ladders and u11 Blues, both u14 teams and u15 Girls are inside the top 4. A very exciting run to the finals is ahead of them and we wish them all well!
PJFC Presentation Day:
I would like to remind everyone that Sunday August 30th is the date for the annual PJFC Presentation Day – the day we acknowledge all the wonderful efforts our children have made throughout the year. Please stay tuned for more information but do keep the day free and invite all the family, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. It will be a great day!
Lightning Carnivals and Grand Finals:
I am very pleased to report that the SMJFL has invited us to host a number of Lightning Carnivals (2nd August) and u11-u13 Grand Finals (23rd August) over the coming weeks. Toorak Park is one of the great ovals that the SMJFL has access to and it is wonderful condition coming into finals season so we should all be very proud! So even if your child is not playing, there are still going to be very exciting events to attend at Toorak Park!
…and, of course, let’s be social!
Don’t forget that whilst we are a football club, we are also a SOCIAL club! As such, Friday nights’ Bar and BBQ is a massive part of our club and we’d love to see everyone realy partaking of our family atmosphere. SO on Friday night, let’s take the kids out to dinner at the club! Bar and canteen open from 4.30pm – come nad catch up with old friends and new!
