Hello to all at PJFC,

Please find a summary of some current goings-on at PJFC:

Major Raffle:

The Prahran Football Club will be called upon to contribute financially to the redevelopment of Toorak Park’s facilities probably in the next 5 years; all Team Managers are in the process of collecting and distributing one book of 10 raffle tickets to sell per child; please help the cause by selling the tickets and returning the books and cash to your Team Manager by no later than Sunday 17th July. First prize is a new car! Many thanks to John Ribbands and all the Team Managers who are coordinating this effort.

PFC Annual Gala Luncheon:

A tremendous success last year; 170 attended and had a brilliant time with a panel including Neale Daniher, Brian Taylor, Wayne Carey and Danny Frawley. This year’s event will be held on Friday July 22nd so please save the date! The raffle will be drawn at this luncheon.

Match reports:

I notice there has been significant drop off on the submission of match reports; they are a fun way for the club to get a flavour of how the games are rolling out. Feel free to be a bit creative; maybe your team captains of the week might do the report? Consider a video report filmed on your smart phone straight after the game? Modified rules teams (other than u12 Girls) – please remember that it is an AFL, SMJFL and PJFC directive that scores are not reported or published and your reports must not refer to winning or losing – just a summary of the spirit of the game and a highlight or two would be enough!

Match day behaviour:

Whilst we have had very few major incidents this season and we acknowledge that most kids and parents have been very well behaved this year, I would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that there is no room in our game for overly vocal supporters, abuse of team mates and officials (physical or verbal) or remonstrating with umpires. Let’s keep our perspective all across the club; this is kids football – not AFL.

Want to get more involved?

Our AGM will be held in November (date TBA) and at that meeting, the 2017 General Committee will be formalized. If you have any interest in being involved at this level, please feel free to pick up the phone – I would be very happy to meet for a coffee and outline what’s involved and expected.

Interleague carnival this weekend:

Every year, the SMJFL fields teams in various age groups from u13s up in a carnival involving other junior football leagues from around Melbourne. This year, 5 of our u13s and 3 of our u14s have been chosen to participate. Congratulations to them all!

Toorak Park is the place to go on Saturday as we are hosting the u14s!

If you would like to see them in action this weekend, this is where to be:

  • U13 Division 1 (Will Richards, Lucas Liakakos and Scott Beilby) – Sunday 12th June at 10.20am and 1.50pm at Centenary Park, Brady Road, East Bentleigh
  • U13 Division 2 (Brett Boscacci and Jack Peris) – Sunday 12th June at 11.45am and 1.30pm at Centenary Park, Brady Road, East Bentleigh
  • U14 Division 1 (Nick Watson) – Saturday 11th June at 2pm at Toorak Park and Monday 13th June at 2pm at Galvin Park, Shaws Road, Werribee
  • U14 Division 2 (Louis Dalgleish and Max Holmes) – Saturday 11th June at 12pm at Toorak Park and Monday 13th June at 12pm at Galvin Park, Shaws Road, Werribee

Good luck to all!

Club closed this weekend:

There are no regular games this weekend so feel free to have a sleep in and a relax; the club will also be shut on Friday.

Enjoy the Queen’s Birthday long weekend everyone!

Regards
